Text Box: A Message from Pastor Dave, our Director: The Bible clearly states “all have sinned”. It’s our nature. And because of sin, we’ve hurt ourselves, we have hurt others, and others have hurt us. We all need repentance and recovery. Some say “time heals all wounds” – but in the ministry I have found that’s just not true. Some people carry things from 20, 30, 40 or more years ago. For others, time has made things worse. Time only extends pain…unless the problem is dealt with. Celebrate Recovery is designed to do just that. It combines the power of God’s Word with the 12-step program designed by AA. Here are some unique things about it: 1. Celebrate Recovery is based on God’s Word in the Bible. We truly find the power of God leading us to forgiveness and freedom…and we find a design for “living right-side-up in an upside-down world.” 2. Celebrate Recovery is forward-looking. While we must deal with the events of our past, we focus on the future, Christ’s grace, and the power He freely gives us to change our lives. 3. Celebrate Recovery emphasizes personal responsibility. We help each other face the truths of our lives. As victims of our own choices, or the choices of others, we focus on how to control the way we respond to those things as we seek the healing power of Jesus Christ. We support and encourage each other as we are called to do by God’s Word. 4. Celebrate Recovery emphasizes spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ. We believe that lasting recovery cannot be fully realized without a commitment to the life Jesus calls us to as His followers. 5. Celebrate Recovery is open to all types of hurts, habits, and hang-ups (or compulsions, addictions, and dysfunctions). We truly believe the power of God’s love for us in Christ provides a place where any number of life-issues can find answers. Our goal is to truly create the safest place in Steamboat Springs for people to seek God’s power in dealing with the hurts, habits, and hang-ups in their lives. The only people involved in this ministry are people who are affected by this ministry….and that includes me. I am a believer in Jesus Christ whose life struggle has been with alcohol and a low sense of self-worth. We meet on Thursday evenings at 6:15 PM at the Church.
